**Visitors both local and from all over enjoy the collection of old photos from around the island, artifacts, sports, railroad, and plantation memorabilia displayed in the museum.....the museum exhibits has become a Big Island community showplace for everyone to enjoy...and remember the past days....
....Most of the old photos are available to purchase.
**Since opening in July 2004 the donations received from customers of the plantation days, railroads, sports, store signs,....and other stuff adds to the exhibits in the museum....it shows the very simple lifestyle from the past generation that can never be replaced....
....an old timer donated a homemade Ko Ko maker(pickles)made from an Ohia stump with notches on both sides for handles..fits perfect in a old 5 gallon crock....in the last month we got over 750 photos of the Big Island's life style from the 1800s with natives in grass shacks, plantation days from Hamakua to Naalehu, photos of sports teams from the old Hilo Boarding School in the 1914 through 1918 era,....."metal" dish (porcelain) used in just about every plantation home to eat...metal plates were used to prevent breakage...
